About Debbi

Debbi Shamon is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 15 years of experience providing therapy. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Child Development from Tufts University in 1996, and her Master-of-Social Work Degree in 2000 from Smith College School for Social Work, where she was awarded the Thesis Prize for her work on Attachment Disorder. She has worked at the Boston Medical Center, the Walker School, the Knights Children’s Center of the Home For Little Wanderers, and Jewish Family and Children Services before devoting herself full-time to private practice 2013. She has been trained through the Certificate Program at the Trauma Center, the Infant Parent Training Institute at JF&CS, Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Psychotherapy Training with Postpartum Support International, and in EMDRIA-approved EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing).

Though her training is clinical, research-based and theory-derived, she believes therapy is best applied through a sense of warmth, true caring, and humor. And that the best outcomes spawn from genuine, human interactions between clinician and client.
