Parenting/Postpartum
I work with adults in all stages of life, supporting their transition to parenthood. I have advanced training in treatment of postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, attachment, infant-parent mental health, and trauma. I am specially trained to help people cope with the emotional complications of pregnancy, adoption support, and relationship challenges.
I provide infant-parent mental health services, seeing parents individually or with their infants depending on need.
I support parents whose own experiences growing up were challenging and did not prepare them well for parenting.
Additional areas of speciality include supporting those creating a family through adoption, especially adoption of an infant or toddler affected by trauma, neglect, or substance exposure.
EMDR
I am trained to perform EMDR therapy. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is one of the many tools for treating post-traumatic stress, anxiety and mood disorder. It works by helping the brain reprocess memories in a way that can help lead to a peaceful resolve. It brings me joy to see the improvement and healing so many of my clients have experienced in even just a few sessions.
Trauma
I have extensive training and experience in trauma therapy. I provide comprehensive trauma treatment using cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, and EMDR, with the goal of helping people regulate and re-establish a sense of safety in the world.
Anxiety and Mood
I am here to support you and help you find the compassion for yourself that you need to create the life you want to have. Together we will explore the roots of anxiety and depression and work towards achieving a state of well-being. Much of my work focuses on developing a toolbox of strategies to use outside the therapy hour.
Right now, anxiety is gripping much of society. We read the news. We read the social media feeds. It overwhelms us at times. Keeps us up at night. And it erupts in the worst moments putting stress on our everyday lives and relationships. I have extensive training on helping people work through and learn to cope with anxiety. Please do not continue to suffer alone.
Relationship
For many years, my research and practical focus has largely adhered to the theory of attachment and attachment disruption. We first learn to relate to others at an early age through our families and the people closest to us. What we learn from those early experiences leaves an indelible imprint on our sense of ourselves, our beliefs about the world, and the relationships we form later in life. By learning about and understanding our own attachment styles and the ways in which we get our needs met, we can then learn to create and shape secure, loving relationships in our lives.
